HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM LAKEPORT

I know, I know, you have not heard from the Green's for six months.  Well for one thing, we have been very busy.

Beginning with May, we spent the month at Crescent City being docents at the Battery Point Lighthouse.  What a kick that was.  We parked the coach in an RV park in town and made our way to our shifts according to the tide..  The lighthouse sits on an isthmus so is really an island when the tide is in.  Bob loved taking tourists to the tower and telling them all about what they could see from there.  I gave tours of the lower two rooms and took care of the gift shop.  The lighthouse keepers gave the tour of the two upstairs bedroom, one of which was theirs.  They lived there full time.

Then we were on hand for high school graduations of two of our grandchildren.  Bobby, was on Friday afternoon in Albany, CA followed by a reception at home.
The other on was at 9:00 A.M. Saturday morning, for Rachel,  in Grass Valley, CA  about 2 1/2 hours away, it was tight but we made it.  There was a party at her home afterwards.

From there we went down the valley to Kernville to a workcamping job in an RV park.  We were there from June 15 through the Labor Day weekend.  It was hot mostly but the mountains above (high Sierras) were beautiful and cool.  We survived a forest fire of about 16 thousand acres that started about one mile from the campsite.

Then we drove up to Lakeport and moved in to a "stick house" again.  It is a two-bedroom bungalow just the right size for us and a place at the side of the driveway for our coach.  We have been here for three months and loving it.  We have a great church community, we can walk nearly everywhere we need to go, we have found part time jobs and we plan to be here at least of each year.

Future plans include another two-month stay with our kids in Bogota, Colombia during May and June.  The plan is for Bob and all three boys to go on a week-long deep sea fishing trip together.  They are all looking forward to it.  Felicia (Jade's wife) and I will go to be with Cherie (Kelly's wife) for that week.  Then Jade and Felicia will come back home, we will stay there and Forrest's plans have not been firmed up yet.

Beyond that, we don't know yet.  Bob would like to go to Alaska for the summer of 2012.  We'll see!  For now we are happy here in our little house with our great church friends.  Hope you are all having good times this holiday season.  In case you are wondering, our address is: 510 Clearlake Ave., Lakeport, CA  95453.  Phone (land lined) is (707) 263-6871.  Our e-mail, Texas address and cell phones remain the same.

We love you,
Diana and Bob
