Two Months in Bogota

In mid-July we left Arizona heat and
Flew way down south to Bogota.
It was nearly 9,000 feet, we could hardly breathe,
It was only 65 degrees, definately for Bob a "rah-rah".

We had a nice room, albeit upstairs
Which were in the process of change.
From covered with carpet to covered with wood
It did the whole schedule re-arrange.

Juan Jose's school is behind their back fence,
Bi-lingual and Christian in nature.
We volunteered time and spoke only English
For which they seemed very grateful.

The taxi and bus rides are something to experience,
I called them all "old Mr. Toad's wild ride"
Like in Disneyland they were but not on a track,
Never more than six inches--side to side.

We took some side trips in/near Bogota
A city of 9 million or more souls.
Up an 11,000 foot mountain with lunch at the top,
and to the Gold Museum with lots of gold bowls.

Then we went with the kids on a two-week vacation
To the seashore on the Carribean side.
It was hot, it was humid, but at last we could breathe,
In Santa Marta, Zuana Beach with high and low tide.

Sand castles were built in the soft and wet sand,
Evening folk dances for guests to enjoy.
The food was superb, with plenty of tanning
By the pools, and other resort amenities did employ.

A dinner on the beach and a bonfire too
Kelly made it happen, as the day did diminsh.
Cherie and Juan Jo both had birthdays while we were there
So it seemed like one endless party, start to finish.

As always, it's good to get back to our home,
We had been worried it would melt in the heat.
But we had "summerized" it well and all was o.k.
All in all, we say, "Colombia was neat."

Next week to Albuquerque, to see the Balloon Festival,
We will do a blog with pictures from there.
Hope your summer went well and until the next time,
Hiway Hilton sends you love, hugs and care.

Life is Good
