Hiway Hilton - September/October, 2008

One of the best side trips taken during the summer

Was to the Mississippi River Headwaters, running free.

It's a stream, from a lake we could wade clear across

Beginning its 2,500 mile trip to the sea.

September 8 we took off again,

Went further up north to see the Great Lakes.

Iron Mountain Range, the port of Duluth, the Split Rock Lighthouse,

Just a few of the things making great picture "takes."

Then on to Wisconsin, and yes, we got cheese,

In Oconomowoc, near Madison, we stayed.

From there down to Iowa, to be exact, Forest City,

It's the place where our Winnebago was made.

We rolled on to Kansas, then through Oklahoma

Into Texas, back to Livingston we came.

By the time we got here we'd been thru 13 states,

Much evidence of "Ike," so all's not the same.

We'll be here now until the first of the year,

Will be volunteering again in the CARE Center.
From here we will drive to our lot in Arizona

Where we plan to stay the rest of the winter.
That's all for now, we hope you are well,
Give us a call or send an e-mail.
We're still having fun while seeing this land,

There's more yet before the end of the trail.
Life is Good!!
