HIWAY HILTON--JULY, 2008
Back to the road on the 7th of June
To Minnesota: we'd not been there before.
Leaving California and going east--ever east
We didn't know exactly what was in store.
Up through Nevada, out thru Utah
Into Wyoming, with tail winds we went zip.
A stop in Nebraska to fix something minor
Then on to York (NE) to leave the coach for a side trip.
Dipped down into Kansas for a 70th anniversary
Of Diana's aunt and uncles; quite a party.
Many cousins she hadn't seen for over 40 years
Were there to visit, take pictures and eat hearty.
Back to the coach and traveling north
Through Nebraska and up thru Dakota land.
In between storms, we made it just fine,
Found our spot on Spirit Lake, which is just grand.
We're in Ottertail County, a large one indeed
Has 10% of the state's 10,000 lakes.
They're incredible to see as you go down the road
On both sides, great scenic driving it makes.
We carved out two days last week for a trip,
One hundred, fifty miles through the heart of the county.
Stayed in a great B&B--took pictures of loons,
Lots of farms, looks like there will be a large bounty.
The weather's exciting, never know what to expect,
The wind blows and blows, then it just RAINS.
Then the sun comes out so it turns off to be humid,
But the crops in the fields are making great gains.
We've been here a month and have two more to go,
There's still lots to see, so we will.
Bob's birthday this week, we'll take a day trip
Let you know how it went--goodby for now, UNTIL.
Life is Good,
Diana and Bob
