Bob figured how to send pictures
We hope he can do it again.
Nearly three weeks now since we last sent them
But so much has been packed into that time.
Back across the desert from Phoenix
Turned out to be a very long day.
It brought us an interesting side trip
We enountered the Very Large Array.
One day was spent at the State Fair
We had not attended one for years.
Another day to the top of Sandia Mountain,
10,628 feet high, took a rather good snap of "us dears."
On Saturday we went out to the Tent Rocks,
Huge rocks, with such dizzying heights.
As we climbed up a trail to look down on them
We said, "The birds should be taking these flights."
On Monday we traveled to Santa Fe,
Lots of artists, galleries and shops we did see.
We went to the Chapel of Our Lady of Light
To see how the wonderful stairway would be.
It WAS wonderous, as well you can see,
No sides did it have when first it was made.
But after 10 years the Sisters commissioned
A bannister, it still stands with the amazing up-grade.
Silver City was next on the agenda,
Our friend said to the Cliff Dwellings we'll go.
So we piled in the car, it was really quite far,
Bought walking sticks to hike up to the show.
Then on to White Sands, a desolate place,
To take a drive out through the dunes.
The main reason for coming this far out of the way
Was to see the beautiful hot air balloons.
But the night before launch, it rained and it rained,
They don't go up in the wind and the rain.
The first disappointment since we started in June,
Anyway, it was time to do laundry again.
Then on down to Carlsbad Caverns
Something I've wanted to see since a child.
Mother Nature outdid herself, all underground,
You just walk, gape and stare: "It was wild."
The end of the day brought the bat show,
Over a million come out of the cave every night.
Mexican freetails: mothers and offspring
Every year its a nursery without light.
LIFE IS GOOD as we travel on to San Antonio.

Hiway Hilton Message #7
Albuquerque & Phoenix:
The 50th Annversary was special
Many friends and famiy were there.
We did an impromptu "anniversary service,"
It was one way to show that we care.
One of the best parts of the week of the party
Was meeting Bob's cousins' childen, all grown.
It's been too many years without contact
Many kindnesses by them we were shown.
The honorees, Jackie and Gordon
Were aglow with events of The Day.
Gordon wrote her a song, we all helped him sing,
A tribute to 50 years it did pay.
We then spent a day driving to Phoenix,
It was cool until 25 miles out.
It was like sinking down into an oven
Most homes, serious air-conditioning tout.
We visited three families who had moved there
From California, we can't figure out why.
But Bob's sister has been there for 30+ years
They all acclimate as the years slip on by.
Bob spent a day at a mine claim
On the desert, about two hours away.
His pictures of scenery and cactus
Are all the "gold" he brought back from that day.
On Saturday we went to Sedona,
Quite a nice little "touristy" town.
Spent time at a campground and trout farm,
Saw a church that holds worldwide renown.
September 6, back to Albuquerque,
We'll pickup our coach from the shop.
There's a few more friends there to visit
Before we head out to Texas, next stop.
LIFE IS STILL GOOD, BUT WE CAN'T
GET THE PICTURES TO RUN ON THE
BLOGSPOT. MAYBE NEXT TIME!!
